A rare astronomical phenomenon Sunday night will produce a moon that
will appear slightly bigger than usual and have a reddish hue, an event
known as a super blood moon.
It’s
a combination of curiosities that hasn’t happened since 1982, and won’t
happen again until 2033. A so-called supermoon,
which occurs when the moon is closest to earth in its orbit, will coincide
with a lunar eclipse, leaving the moon in Earth’s
shadow. Individually, the two phenomena are not uncommon, but they do not
align often.
Most
people are unlikely to detect the larger size of the supermoon. It may
appear 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter, but the difference is
subtle to the plain eye. But the reddish tint from the lunar eclipse is
likely to be visible throughout
much of North America, especially on the East Coast.
“You’re basically seeing all of the sunrises and sunsets across the world,
all at once, being reflected off the surface of the moon,” said Dr. Sarah
Noble, a program scientist at NASA.
Stargazers are excited. Though the celestial show will be visible by simply
looking toward the sky, the Intrepid Museum in New York will
host a free
viewing from its perch at Pier 86 on the Hudson River with astronomers
and high-powered telescopes on hand. The Amateur Astronomers Association of
New York will be holding
several free events in the city, including
at the High Line, offering telescopes and binoculars for better views.
“People can ask questions, and we can answer the questions right there,”
said Marcelo Cabrera, the club’s president.
The
eclipse will begin at 9:07 p.m. Eastern time, as the Earth’s shadow moves
across the moon, according
to the association. At 10:11 p.m., the entire moon should be in the
Earth’s shadow, at which point it will adopt the reddish color. It will
remain fully in the shadow until 11:23 p.m., and the eclipse will end at
12:27 a.m.
If
time or attention spans run short, Mr. Cabrera suggested looking up just
before the moon descends fully into the Earth’s shadow at 10:11 p.m., as it
turns color.
Dr. Noble said such events tend to get more people interested in astronomy,
as it creates an opportunity to take children outside and get them looking
up at the sky. “It leads to conversations about what else is up there,” she
said.

Sky watchers are getting ready for an evening of special viewing when a total
lunar eclipse arrives just after midnight on April 15. What's more, this
begins a rare sequence of four total lunar eclipses expected over the next two
years. Some Christians see this series of so-called blood moons as linked
to a biblical prophecy of the End Times.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, Earth and moon line up so the Earth's
shadow falls on the moon, darkening it. The one on April 15 will begin at
1:20 a.m. on the East Coast, according to Sky and Telescope magazine.
"Eclipses are one of the few astronomical events that can easily be enjoyed with
the naked eye," though a pair of binoculars brings it into even greater focus,
said astronomy writer Gary Kronk.
As it begins, "the Earth's shadow will make a slow crawl across the moon's
face, appearing as if there is an increasingly large 'bite' taken out of the
moon," said Deborah Byrd with EarthSky.org, an online science magazine. At
first, the full moon will just appear to be a little darker than normal, "but
eventually people will notice a much darker arc moving across the moon, with a
distinct rusty reddish-brown color," said astronomer Gerald McKeegan at the
Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland, Calif.
The bloody red color the moon takes on during an eclipse is caused by
refraction of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere. "It is the same effect
that you see when the sun turns reddish-orange at sunset, only in this case the
refracted sunlight projects all the way to the moon," McKeegan said.
This eclipse also features an extra astronomical quirk. Mars will appear "as
a fiery red 'star' next to the moon. Together red Mars and the red shadow on the
moon's face should be a spectacular sight and an incredible photo opportunity,"
said Byrd. The only downside to this month's lunar eclipse is that it
comes very late at night for most of America.
However, many observatories and science museums will have special events
during the eclipse. For those where it's cloudy, the
Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles will be streaming the event live.
The April 15 eclipse marks the start of a lunar tetrad. That event occurs when
there are four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses
in between, each of which is separated from the other by six full moons.
A book out last year, Four Blood Moons: Something is about to change,
suggests the event could be a fulfillment of biblical prophecy. In it,
John Hagee writes that the red disks of the moon during the full eclipses are
referred to in the book of Joel 2:31: "The sun will be turned into darkness, and
the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord come."
The other three eclipses of this lunar tetrad are on Oct. 8 of this year and
then April 8 and Sept. 28 of 2015.

It was then that Pope Leo XIII drafted, to
be added to the prayers at the end of Low Mass and said by the priests and
the faithful over the whole world, the intercession to Saint Michael which
is now so familiar to us all:

October 1984 nothing happened. So, when did the one hundred years start?
Exactly 33 years later on October 13, 1917 the Miracle of the Sun occurred at
Fatima. October 25, 1917 the Bolshevik/Communist Revolution in Russia.

SAN ANTONIO -- The Book of Genesis says God uses
the sun, moon, and stars for signs and seasons. Examples can be found
throughout the Bible. Think of how a star led the wise men
to Jesus or how the sun stood still as Joshua led Israel to victory over
its enemies.
According to Pastor John Hagee, God is getting
ready to speak this way once again. "There's a sense in the world
that things are changing and God is trying to communicate with us in a
supernatural way," Hagee told CBN News.
"I believe that in these next two years, we're
going to see something dramatic happen in the Middle East involving
Israel that will change the course of history in the Middle East and
impact the whole world," he predicted.
Four Blood Moons (Tetdad)
In his latest book, Four Blood Moons
(Tetrad):
Something Is About to Change, Hagee lays out what he calls
celestial signals. He describes how a series of blood moons in 2014 and
2015 will have great significance for Israel. Although
single blood moons happen fairly regularly, four appearing so closely
together is extremely rare. There have only been a series of blood moons
a handful of times over the past 500 years. So what exactly is a
blood moon and what is the biblical significance?
"A blood moon is when the Earth comes between
the sun and the moon," Hagee explained. "And the sun is shining through
the atmosphere of the Earth and casts up on the moon a red shadow. And
so the moon appears to be red."
Such moons appear several times in scripture.
In the book of Joel, God says there will be "wonders in the heavens and
in the earth, blood, and fire…the sun will be turned to darkness and the
moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the
Lord."
In Acts, the Apostle Peter repeats that verse
from Joel. And the book of Revelation says that during the Great
Tribulation, "the moon will become like blood." Blood moons are
set to appear in April 2014, on Passover, and then again in September
2014 during the Feast of Tabernacles, or Sukkot. The timing is the
same for 2015 -- a total of four blood moons (Tetrad), all appearing on Jewish
feast days.
"The sun and the moon and the Earth are
controlled by God almighty," Hagee said. "He is the one that is getting
them in a direct alignment on a certain day at a certain time -- but
each time, it's a Passover or Sukkot.
Historic Significance
In the past, the rare appearance of four blood
moons on these feast days has coincided with major events for Israel and
the Jewish people. In 1492, Spain expelled the Jews. Columbus also
discovered America, which became a safe haven for the Jewish people.
"In each of these blood moons, you have
something that begins in tragedy and ends in triumph," Hagee explained.
For instance, in 1948, Israel was reborn as a
nation. "After 2,000 years, God supernaturally brought them from
66 nations and a nation was born in a day," Hagee noted. "That again was
a supernatural something that happened following the tragedy of the
Holocaust."
In 1967, Israel won the Six-Day War and
recaptured Jerusalem. "For the first time in 2,000 years,
Jerusalem and the State of Israel were together again," Hagee said.
Nuclear Threat
The blood moons (Tetrad) of 2014 and 2015 are poised to
appear as Iran works toward nuclear weapons and Israel's neighbors,
Egypt and Syria, are in chaos. "The only reason that Iran will not
acquire a nuclear bomb will be that Israel chooses a military solution
to that crisis," Hagee told CBN News.
"I believe that if that happens, it will start a
series of events that will change the course of world history," he said.
"If Israel does not, then it will still change the course of world
history."
Hagee has been warning of the Iranian nuclear
threat through his work with Christians
United for Israel, which he founded in 2006. It is now the largest
pro-Israel organization in America, with some 1.3 million members.
He holds nights to honor Israel across the
country and at San Antonio's Cornerstone Church, where he serves as
senior pastor. The first event, in 1981, drew bomb threats and vandalism
from anti-Semites.
Yet Hagee continues his mission. "If there
was ever a time for the Christians of America to stiffen their spine and
stand up and speak up, it's now," Hagee admonished. "To see evil and not
call it evil is evil. Not to speak is to speak. We cannot be silent and
receive God's approval at a time like this."
He said it's still unclear what the coming blood
moons will bring, but he is certain of one thing. "When all is
said and done, the flag of Israel will be flying over the walls of the
city of Jerusalem when Messiah comes, and it's going to be forever," he
said. "And every nation that rises up in judgment against Israel God
will punish and punish severely.

which was spoken of by the prophet Joel: And it shall come to pass, in
the last days, (saith the Lord), I will pour out of my Spirit upon all
flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy: and your young
men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams. And

DARK MOON
Veronica - Now—oh, on the left side of the
flagpole it's growing very light. It's very bright. And I see now in the

Chapter 24. "For many

And I can see now Jesus and Our Lady are going high up into the sky, and
there's forming directly over Our Lady's statue, high in the sky—it
is a cross, a very large cross. The handle, though, of a . . . dagger—it
looks like a dagger, a knife. It's a strange-looking dagger with a
loop at the bottom, like. It's a symbol. And Jesus is nodding.
Jesus -"You will understand, My child, soon."
Veronica - Yes, it is a, like a saber. Gee, it, it's a very
strange-looking, dagger-like saber, with a cross on a handle. Like—it's
not the kind that you see—it looks almost like Arabian or
something. I can't explain it—like a very strange-looking Arabic,
or something. I don't know where I have seen that before, but it's a very
odd-looking type of dagger-like sword, with a hook on the end of it, though.
