The United States and Britain on Saturday faced criticism from allies and foes alike

THE United States and Britain last night launched the biggest air raid on targets around Baghdad since Operation Desert Fox in December 1998, damaging President Saddam Hussein’s new command-and-control facilities.
The bombing mission, which involved at least 80 aircraft, including 24 American strike planes such as F16s, and nine RAF aircraft, including six Tornado GR1s, was the first military attack to be authorized by President Bush since taking office last month. The American aircraft carrier, USS Harry S. Truman, launched raids with F14s and F18s from the Gulf.

INTERNATIONAL REACTION
Russia strongly criticized Friday’s air attacks.
“What the American militarists are doing at the start of the new administration’s activity is a challenge to international security and the entire world community,” said Col. Gen. Leonid Ivashov, chief of the Russian Defense Ministry’s international cooperation department.
“It is not the first time that when the issue of the Iraqi dossiers was about to be closed, the U.S. unleashes military actions and in fact ruins this process,” the Interfax news agency quoted him as saying

FEAR, ANGER IN BAGHDAD
In Baghdad, anti-aircraft fire flashed in the night sky and sirens drove residents from the streets.
Sirens started wailing about 9 p.m., followed soon after by explosions from anti-aircraft weaponry from the southern and western outskirts of the city of more than 5 million people.
Some residents of the capital huddled together in fear in their houses. Others, however, braved the danger to watch the sky.
“How many times do they destroy what they themselves said they have already destroyed?” asked Samih Jamal, a 54-year-old retired government worker.
The last time Baghdad’s sirens wailed was Feb. 24, 1999, when U.S. aircraft attacked targets on the outskirts of the capital, killing and wounding several people.
Almost 50 minutes after the sirens first sounded, more sirens announced the end of the air strikes. People began milling around the streets, shaking their heads and discussing the events of the previous hour.

THREATS OF RETALIATION
In Baghdad, the state-run al-Qadissiya newspaper said Saddam’s regime would retaliate for the attack.
“This crime will not go without strong punishment for the aggressive Americans, to teach the American-Zionist new and old administration new lessons,” the paper said, without being specific.
Iraq said on Saturday that two civilians were killed and more than 20 others were wounded in Western air strikes on the outskirts of Baghdad on Friday.
One of the victims was an 18-year-old woman and television pictures showed images of a man, apparently in his 30s, who died in the attack.
“Two people were martyred and more than 20 others injured during the aggression launched by American and British planes last night,” the Iraqi News Agency INA said, quoting an Iraqi health ministry spokesman.

Bayside Prophecies:

AN ARABIAN SABER
Veronica -
And I can see now, Jesus and Our Lady are going high up into the sky, and there's forming directly over Our Lady's statue, high in the sky - it is a cross, a very large cross. The handle though of a... dagger - it looks like a dagger, a knife. It's a strange looking dagger with a loop at the bottom like. It's a symbol. And Jesus is nodding.
Jesus - "You will understand, My child, soon."
Veronica - Yes, it is a - like a saber. Gee, it - it's a very strange looking dagger like saber, with a cross on a handle. Like - it's not the kind that you see - it looks almost Arabian or something. I can't explain it - like a very strange looking Arabie... or something. I don't know where I have seen that before, but it's a very odd looking type of dagger like sword, with a hook on the end of it though. That's strange. Oh! Now it's beginning to fade; I can't see it anymore. December 24, 1979

MIDEAST
Our Lady -
"Wars are a punishment for man's sins. Already your sons are being sent to be there with the invasion in the Mideast. Is this what you want, My children? Can you not give your prayers and acts of reparation for those who have no one to pray for them? They are all Our sheep and We wish that they would be gathered into a holy land. The word 'holy' strikes a chord of misery, My child; I have no way to explain but to tell you, misery." May 25, 1983

TERRORISM TO COME TO NORTH AMERICA
Our Lady
- "And your country, My child, the United States, and Canada also, will receive the heavy hand of the Father soon upon them. We can no longer protect them from what is to come about within the blood flowing in the streets of the United States. There will be carnage such as has never been seen before in the United States and Canada."  September 27, 1986

WAR  IN  THE  MIDEAST
Veronica - There is a great war ahead. It will coincide with the war in the Mideast.  February 17, 1974

THE  GREAT  WAR
Our Lady
- "Your Vicar, My child, will be set upon by the forces known as antichrist. These forces will unite in the promotion of the great War, a war that mankind has never seen before, a war so violent, so destructive that no human flesh would be left if My Son does not intervene."
Veronica - Oh, IOur Lady is pointing over to the left side, by Her right side. And I see... it's... looks like a desert. It's a land I never saw before. It's very hilly, but it looks very dry. The dirt has a very yellowish, dried, caked look. I think it's a desert. And I see many, many people. They look, they're dark-skinned, and they're all holding rifles. And now they're pushing also some type of machines in place. They look like they're getting ready for a, a battle. Oh!
Now Our Lady is pointing over beyond them. And I see more people, hundreds and hundreds of people. They're dressed in uniforms. They're like, they look like brownish-green uniforms. I can't tell... they seem like men and womenyes, they're men and women, but they're all dressed alike, in pants. And they're marching. And they're carrying a flag; it's a white flag with a red circle on it. A white flag with a red circle. And they're marching now, and they're carrying guns, long rifles. Oh, and they are also like preparing for war.  December 24, 1974
