A chastisement of war upon the United States…

"Already the forces of evil have gathered; and your country, the United States, which has now proceeded into spiritual darkness, shall suffer a great crisis. The time for being optimistic has passed by. Your country, the United States of America, shall be chastised. My heart is bereaved by the knowledge of the loss of great life that will come about in this minor chastisement. Wars are a punishment for man's sins…. This chastisement that will soon come upon your country can engulf all of the nations upon the earth, and in this involvement many nations shall disappear from the face of the earth." – Our Lady, November 20, 1979

The coming war with Iraq has extremely ominous tones when viewed against some of Our Lady of the Roses prophecies. We know that World War III will begin in the Mideast. It is quite possible that this war with Iraq may stir the Mideast pot to the boiling point, to the point of World War III.

During Desert Storm, Our Lady of the Roses had asked in a December 1990 locution that prayers for peace be offered during the Sunday Holy Hours at the Shrine grounds in New York. George Will reported on the ABC show “This Week” (February 23, 2003) that at the height of Desert Storm, Saddam Hussein was prepared to march 5 divisions through Syria to the Golan Heights, which would have meant instant war with Israel and the United States. The recklessness of Saddam Hussein, George Will warns, cannot be underestimated.

There was a great outpouring of prayers. An all-out Mideast war was averted.

We are now back in a very similar situation. Recently, Yasser Arafat sent a telegram to Saddam Hussein, appealing for help in combating the "occupying power" – Israel.

"Any kind of support and assistance from you in these difficult times will enable us to continue our persistence and resistance until we put an end to the occupation, in all its manifestations, of our holy Al-Quds [Jerusalem] and the Islamic and Christian holy shrines, and exercise our legal and lasting rights, based on international legal resolutions, and most importantly our rights for self determination, for repatriation, and for establishing our independent state with its capital Al-Quds Al-Sharif [Jerusalem]." What would happen if, during the coming war with Iraq, Saddam Hussein this time does march several divisions through Syria to fight Israel? Will this be the beginning of World War III? This may also fulfill another prophecy of Our Lady of the Roses, "Syria has the key to the solution of world peace or the Third World War." (May 30, 1981)

We need to remember the past, to have an insight into the future. During Desert Storm, The Washington Times reported on August 14, 1990 that Colonel-General Albert Makashov (a Soviet general specializing in tank warfare) arrived in Bagdad two weeks before the Kuwait invasion on July 17, and remained in Iraq until August 13^th. The Financial Times reported on August 8, 1990 that “The Soviets played a critical role in operational planning, communications, and logistics for the invasion of Kuwait.” The same article stated that the attack on Kuwait “bore all the earmarks of Soviet satellite intelligence.” This article also reports, “The Soviets never have two satellites over the Persian Gulf except in times of war.” COSMOS 2037 was launched a few weeks before the invasion of Kuwait, and then on July 20^th COSMOS 2086 was launched and moved into position to view Kuwait on July 28^th.

A column by Mona Charen emphasized that during the Gorbachev years alone the Soviets increased their number of ICBMs by 715, compared to the United States’ 70—a ratio of 10 to 1 in favor of the Soviets; during that period they added 270 long-range bombers compared to our 103; they built 490 submarine-based ballistic missiles while we built 200; they build 54 nuclear submarines compared to our 24; and they produced 13,100 multiple rocket launchers compared to our 1,635.

Jeff Nyquist reports: “Today, despite the appalling poverty of the Russian people, the Russian military continues to produce the world’s most advanced tanks, fighter planes, submarine and strategic missiles.” (Russia buys more guns than butter, J.R. Nyquist, January 11, 2001)

Our Lady of Fatima warned, “"Russia will spread its errors throughout the world, provoking wars and persecutions of the Church.”

The Black Book of Communism documents the 100 million victims of this global scourge. The body count grows day by day. Does it make any sense that the U.S. would justly oppose and defend itself against Al Qaeda, but not oppose global communism? Communist aggression and persecution of the Catholic Church remain stark facts in Russia, China, Cuba, North Korea, Africa, Colombia, Venezuela, the Czech Republic and many other places throughout the world. How is it that the greatest global threat continues to escape the condemnation of the U.S. and of the Catholic hierarchy? Silence is the face of evil enables evil to expand.

Communism is not dead, it is growing and has become so strong it is poised to launch a world revolution. It is quite possible that the coming Iraq war is a trap waiting to spring upon the unwary U.S. As Jeff Nyquist explains:

An unclassified report from the CIA to Congress now warns that Russia is spreading dangerous nuclear and missiles secrets to other countries. China is also doing this. If the so-called “axis of evil” possesses weapons of mass destruction we have Moscow and Beijing to thank. And we also need to ask a very simple though terrifying question. Is this proliferation a deliberate policy adopted with the idea of hurting the United States and its allies? (“The enemy behind our enemy,” Jeff Nyquist)

Furthermore, the Catholic Church in Russia endures increasing persecution, another sign that Russia is not converted. Pope John Paul II, on January 13, 2003, publicly stated that the sufferings of the Church in Russia is “a cause of great suffering for me”:

As far as the Catholic Church is concerned, I will mention but one situation which is a cause of great suffering for me: the plight of Catholic communities in the Russian Federation, which for months now have seen some of their Pastors prevented from returning to them for administrative reasons. The Holy See expects from the Government authorities concrete decisions which will put an end to this crisis, and which are in keeping with the international agreements subscribed to by the modern and democratic Russia. Russian Catholics wish to live as their brethren do in the rest of the world, enjoying the same freedom and the same dignity.

The United States and the world are fast approaching a catastrophe which could have been averted. The solution to this catastrophe lies not in purely human means, but in supernatural means. The use of arms will not ultimately protect our country from the expansion of international communism and terrorism. God has given the solution to world peace through Our Lady of Fatima, and Our Lady of the Roses. This world peace plan consists of the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary by the Pope and all the bishops. Only when this is accomplished will the scourge of world communism and terrorism, with Russia at its head, be finally removed from the world.

Until this consecration is accomplished (according to God’s precise instructions, and not according to the wishful thinking of mere man), there will be no relief from terrorism and world communism. Rather, the prophecy “various nations will be annihilated” draws nearer day by day.

Therefore, know that I ask you again, as your God in the Trinity, I ask you to contact the Holy Father—through pen or prose, or the written script—to contact the Holy Father and beg him to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of My Mother. "O My children, how I wanted to caress you and tell you good news, for I am not the bearer of bad news always. I am your Mother and must tell you the truth.

My child Veronica, you repeat now in your weakened state, again: the Pope, John Paul II, and all the bishops of the world must allot one day on which they will pray for the conversion of Russia. Not one day for the world, but one day for Russia; or else, I tell you now, Russia will go about and annihilate, destroy many countries. Nations shall disappear from the face of the earth in the twinkling of an eye. That is how desperate the situation is now throughout your world, My children." - Our Lady, October 2, 1987
