Leftist woke ideology actively and purposely destroys its subscribers’ capacity for rational thought. The truth of this is evident in the slack-jawed, nodding acceptance and dutiful (albeit, incoherent) defense of even the most obviously destructive and thoroughly irrational positions by victims of ideological indoctrination.

Some of the most outlandish examples:

> Taking a “vaccine” that fails to prevent infection or the spread of disease demonstrates virtue. Refusing it constitutes willful disregard for the safety of others.

> Cow farts cause global warming. Beef, therefore, should be abolished as a regular dietary habit.

> Mining the rare-earth metals required to make EV batteries in third-world countries (that rely on the slave labor of 7-year-olds) and then producing those batteries in factories likewise run on foreign slave labor before shipping them stateside for installation into Ms. Soccer Mom’s shiny new EV, legitimately credits Ms. Soccer Mom with choosing “clean energy.”

> Carbon, an essential, naturally-occurring element in the Earth’s environment and the fundamental building block of all life has been deemed “a pollutant” by “scientists” subscribed to (or purchased by) the Climate Crisis narrative.

> The Net Zero Carbon Goal pursued by the Globalist Left demands that we stop farming, ranching, driving, and making anything derived from petroleum. In short, modern human society needs to be crushed. To that end, the US should yield its sovereignty to the all-wise stewardship of the WEF. Climate Crisis promotion has lately taken the destructive form of arson. > A person’s physical sex can be surgically and biochemically manipulated to better align with his or her “gender identity.” This approach is arguably the most invasive and destructive medical “treatment” ever rendered, sterilizing an otherwise healthy patient, committing the patient to a lifetime course of biochemical suppression and synthetic cross-sex hormones, and causing near-certain sexual and urological dysfunction. Yet it has been coercively established as the ONLY acceptable way to respond to a child suffering from gender confusion in many areas of the USA.

> Property rights are racist. A recent book by Leftist darling, anti-Semite and self-described agitator, Vicky Osterweil, defends looting as a “powerful force for change.” No doubt, a society in which essential goods are controlled and distributed only by armed government agents (because commerce based on consenting exchange is “racist”) surely represents a change, a fundamental transformation from ordered liberty to totalitarian control.

All of these positions have two things in common:

They are legitimately insane, i.e., destructive to the society that embraces them. And all can easily be refuted, together with the doctrinal drivel on which they are based, by a reasonably bright sixth grader whose mental faculties have not been actively disabled by indoctrination.

But victims of Leftist ideological indoctrination, who now number in the tens of millions, have been rendered incapable of sufficient critical thought to do so. How did that happen?

For that answer, we need to review the long-observed strategy and tactics of cultists who likewise need to divest their subjects of mental defense (reason) in order to win or maintain control over them. Let’s compare their tactics to those deployed on public school kids by today’s Leftist ideologues.

1 – Recruit members by deception, leveraging vulnerabilities such as adolescent angst. “Your discomfort is a result of society’s condemnation of your (2-spirit, non-binary, transgender, etc.) ‘identity.’ Your parents can’t accept your identity, but we do.”

2 – Offer an aspirational identity if aligned with the group: “You’re a brave warrior for social justice,” “You’re on the right side of history.”

3 – Isolate the subject from family and friends outside the cult by convincing the subject that family members want to stifle or suffocate his or her true nature and potential. “Your family won’t accept your new identity, so, we’re your family now.” There are actual videos of teachers saying this to newly-recruited LBGTQIA+ – identified students.

4 – Discredit the subject’s past experiences and knowledge as impediments to self-actualization. The goal is to discredit the reference points against which the subject would otherwise measure the doctrinal offering of the cult.

5 – Re-define morality as “any actions that advance the goals” of the cult. In the Western worldview, respect for the equal standing of each person forms the foundation of authentic moral conduct. This foundation is especially troublesome to a cult that often advocates behavior that dismisses respect for other individuals’ lives, property, or rights, such as looting, rioting, assault, and arson. The entire Judeo-Christian worldview, therefore, is discredited (as racist, imperialist, patriarchal, etc.)

6 – Train thought-stopping techniques – key phrases designed to intercept the process of rational critique – that can prevent remembered or new material from popping the ideological bubble. “Black Lives Matter,” “Earth First,” “Climate Change is REAL,” “My body, my choice,” “Trans Rights are Human Rights,” etc.

It’s worth noting here that thought-stopping phrases are not actual arguments in support of the cult’s doctrines. They don’t need to be. They need only be ingrained by force of habit so that they can effectively disrupt and prevent an otherwise rational critique of the cult’s doctrine. The habitual deployment of thought-stopping phrases can prevent the recovery of rational thought long after the active indoctrination has ceased.

Victims of these subjugating tactics are literally rendered senseless. They are not only unwilling to critique the false teachings of their cult or party. In their present condition, they are unable to do so because they’ve discarded the reference points on which rational critique relies. The tragic truth is that millions of people indoctrinated in public schools over the past 25 years, in particular, may never recover the ability to reason. Recovery requires releasing a source of comfort, identity, and purpose in exchange for a painful inventory of sacrifices made to maintain alignment with a despotic regime.

Thank God for those on whom the indoctrination effort fails! Are these people of superhuman power, or are they just lucky? Neither is true. Resilient people have key things in common, things we can readily emulate. They include:

a reliable moral compass

sound identity formation informed by family and faith-community ties

a sense of belonging

the purposeful cultivation of reason

Additionally, more families are becoming aware of the destructive indoctrination being conducted in the schools. Exposing covert tactics disarms them. Kids who are encouraged to consistently probe and test propagated doctrines against what they already know and trust are forming cognitive habits that make them naturally resistant to the cultish indoctrination on which subjugating mind control relies.

Our God-given capacity for reason is the most powerful weapon we have against the encroachment of mindless ideology and power lust that threatens to plunge the Western World into another Dark Age.
